The Man Who Met Saya is the sixty-first chapter of the Black Cat manga and the fourth chapter of Volume 7.

Plot[]

The man asks the sweeper if he is Train Heartnet, Saya Minatsuki's friend. Train asks the man the same question. The man introduces himself as Bayard and says that he owes Saya. He then invites Train to his shop so they can talk. Train agrees and the two walk to Bayard's shop. Bayard asks if Saya is with him and Train replies that she is not. Bayard says he understands, as sweepers must travel to get the job done.

Eve and Sven Vollfied are fishing. Eve asks why Train is now a sweeper if he was an eraser. Sven answers that he does not know all the details, just that there was woman involved and that she and Train were close before she died. Eve asks if Train and her were lovers. Sven tells her no and admits that that was he thought at first, before Train explained to him that they were only friends and he "fell in love with her way of life.". Something bites on Eve's line, so Sven quickly grabs her pole and happily exclaims that they will not need to buy dinner.

Train asks Bayard how he met Saya. The man narrates that two years ago, he was in a gang that ran the town. One day he messed up.

A bruised and bloody Bayard is lying on the floor. The men who beat him debate what they should do with him and agree to take him to the boss and let him decide. Suddenly, one of the men is hit on the head from behind. They all turn to see a woman, who introduces herself as a sweeper. She tells them that she has already taken care of their boss and that their gang is done. The men take out their guns and Bayard watches as the sweeper defeats them. She steps towards the injured man to help him, but Bayard grabs a near-by knife and warns her to stay back. Saya explains that she wants to help and advises him to turn his life around, otherwise it will not end well.

Bayard goes on saying that Saya treated his wounds and told him about Train. He states that he never thought the two would meet, under such circumstances. Suddenly, a group of men barge in and surround Train, aiming their guns at him. Bayard stands up and smirks. A man called Loyfenn emerges from the shadows and states that Bayard was not lying when he said he met the woman who met the Black Cat.

Eve asks Sven why they are only catching garbage.
